Green Line D Branch Summer Shuttle Continues

Phase II To Begin Saturday, August 4th
Bus Replacement Service Reservoir to Fenway

Winding down with Phase I of the D Branch Rehabilitation Project, the MBTA is pleased to announce the significant completion of work between Riverside and Reservoir stations.  Over the past 5 weeks, approximately 10,000 ties have been installed with 6000 ties remaining for installation in Phase II.  Work in progress includes tree and brush cutting, signal and power upgrades, cleaning and improving ditches and drainage, and surfacing and aligning the track.  The project also includes clean up of the line and station improvements.   Phase II, to begin Saturday, August 4th, will complete this critical work allowing the MBTA to maintain long-term, safe and reliable Green Line service. The project will also allow the MBTA to introduce easy-to-board, low-floor Green Line vehicles in early 2008. Track work will be performed between the hours of 7 A.M. and dusk – Monday through Friday. 

PHASE II – In preparation for Phase II, bus replacement service will required between Riverside and Kenmore stations the weekend of Saturday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th.  Beginning Monday, August 6th and continuing through Friday, August 31st, D Line service will be replaced with shuttle bus service between Reservoir and Fenway stations.  On Monday, August 6th, normal Green Line service will resume between Riverside and Reservoir stations.

· Shuttle buses will operate Reservoir to Fenway every 3 – 5 minutes during rush hour and every 4 – 10 minutes at other times of the day. 
· Additional service will be available on the Green Line’s C & E branches. 
· Supplemental Service:  Rt. 500 Express Bus – Riverside to Federal/Franklin Streets.
· Red Sox Games: DIRECT BUS SERVICE / NON-STOP between Riverside and Fenway stations will be provided. 
· Additional weekend shutdowns may be required in August.   

NOTE:  PLEASE ALLOW 10-15 ADDITIONAL MINUTES FOR YOUR TRIP.

See below for each station’s bus stop location between Reservoir and Fenway stations. 

Reservoir: Board in  busway or access  C Line service at Cleveland Circle. 

Beaconsfield:  NO SERVICE USE C BRANCH  on Dean Road.

Brookline Hills: Board on Boylston Street @ Cypress or take Bus Rt. 60

Brookline Village Inbound: Board on Brookline Ave. Opposite Pearl St or access. E Line service at Riverway

Brookline Village Outbound: Board on Pearl St. at Washington Street or take Bus Rt. 60 or 65

Longwood: Board at Brookline Ave. at Longwood Ave. or access E Line service at Longwood or take bus routes #8, #19, #60, #65. 

Fenway: Board at Park Drive at Fenway Station  or access C Line service at St. Mary’s Street.

Throughout the summer, periodic updates will be provided on the progress of Phase II.
