Christmas Holiday Service

The MBTA today announced its service schedule for the upcoming holiday period.  To accommodate customers traveling to and from Logan Airport, Silver Line service will be enhanced during peak airport travel times beginning Friday, December 21 through Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24.   In anticipation of heavier than normal passenger volume Thursday and Friday, Logan-bound Silver Line vehicles will depart from South Station every eight (8) minutes between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. each day.  The one-way fare with a CharlieCard is just $1.70. In addition, schedule adjustments to Worcester Commuter Rail service will be made to accommodate customers departing Boston early on Tuesday, December 24.

Ø To ensure prompt and convenient service to and from Logan Airport, the Silver, Red, Orange, Blue and Green lines will operate with additional service during peak travel periods.  

Ø Buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

Ø The MBTA’s Paratransit service – THE RIDE will operate on a regular weekday service schedule.

Commuter Rail

Framingham/Worcester Line

Train P517 the 2:40 PM Framingham departure from South Station is extended to Worcester making stops at Ashland, Southborough, Westborough, and Grafton.

Train P526 the 3:45 PM departure from Framingham to Boston will operate 1 hour later on its scheduled times, departing Framingham at 4:45 PM


Commuter Boat

o All Inner Harbor Ferry will operate a normal weekday schedule

o Hingham Commuter Boat service: The 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. departures from Rowes Wharf to Hingham will be substituted with departures at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The last boat departing Rowes Wharf will be at 7:00 p.m.

o Quincy and Hull Commuter Boat service to Logan Airport and Long Wharf :  There will be two additional trips to Logan and Hull, departing Boston at 11:10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  The last boat departing the MBTA dock at Long Wharf will be at  6:50 p.m. making stops in Hull and Quincy.


Tuesday, December 25th

o Blue, Orange, Green and Red Line trains will operate on a Sunday schedule.

o Buses and trackless trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule.

o Commuter rail trains will operate on a Sunday schedule.  Please Note:  Fairmount Line, Needham Line, and Stoughton Line will not operate.

o All Inner Harbor Ferry and Commuter Boat services will not operate.

o THE RIDE will operate on a Sunday schedule.
