Your Blue Line train may have something in common with a hybrid car

We’re going hybrid. Andrew D. Brennan, Director of Energy and Environment for the MBTA, has been working with a third party company in order to get the subway system working more like hybrid cars. After a year of testing, T officials estimated that the new process of storing and recycling energy in just one T station results in a 10% reduction of energy used or $20,000 in savings.
