MBTA Debuts Performance Dashboard 2.0
Updated Dashboard Features Performance Trends over Time

BOSTON - Friday, July 29, 2016 - The MBTA has launched the next phase of the Performance Dashboard that tracks daily reliability levels of the four subway lines and all 170 bus routes. Responding to customer requests, the Performance Dashboard 2.0 now delivers performance trends over time. The updated dashboard also added average weekday ridership by month for commuter rail, ferry, and The Ride.

The MBTA launched its first interactive Performance Dashboard in March 2016. The Dashboard available at mbtabackontrack.com gives the public the ability to look at the service of lines or routes for the more than one million passenger trips each weekday on the MBTA bus and subway systems. Approximately 27,500 users have made more than 35,000 visits to the dashboard since it launched, currently trending between 200 and 300 visits per day.

Among the new updates available on the Performance Dashboard being announced today:

* Clicking "View Trends" shows performance over the last 7 days and the last 30 days.

* The Calendar allows users to view other dates and see the 7 days and 30 days preceding that day.

* Average weekday ridership by month for Commuter Rail, Ferry, and the Ride is now available, along with ridership as a month over month comparison between 2015 and 2016.

* A Data Download feature allows users to download the data used in the dashboard to do their own analysis.

The Dashboard also includes additional historical financial data and the trend for overall customer satisfaction for the past year.

This new release is part of fulfilling the MBTA's commitment to transparency and open data and the MBTA Fiscal and Management Control Board's pledge to provide the public with more information about T services.

"The Dashboard demonstrated our commitment to customer satisfaction and making decisions based upon the data," said MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack. "This update takes the next steps in delivering improved data to our riders and puts them in a public-facing, timely and understandable format."

The Dashboard reflects the same information used internally by the MBTA to improve the transit systems on-time performance. It focuses on four categories of metrics: reliability, ridership, financials, and customer satisfaction. Please visit the MBTA Performance Dashboard at mbtabackontrack.com.
