Kenmore Station

The modernization of Kenmore Square Station is part of the Light Rail Accessibility Program (LRAP) and provides an accessible station with a new bus canopy and Surface Improvements in Kenmore Square.

In 2008, the Kenmore Station construction reaches the final phase with the installation of two new elevators, connecting the Green Line platforms and the mezzanine ( fare machine level) and the mezzanine and the new busway. Three new escalators have been  installed between the platforms, mezzanine and busway levels and are expected to be in operation during the Fall of 2008. The glass shingle installation on the new stainless steel bus canopy is completed. The new station elevators are scheduled to be in operation in the  2009. Finally the Surface Improvements in Kenmore Square which commenced construction in late summer of 2008 are due to be completed by late 2009.

The architect and urban designer for the project is DiMella Shaffer, Boston, MA and the contractor is Barletta Heavy Division.
