Four Corners / Geneva Commuter Rail Station

The Four Corners / Geneva Commuter Rail Station will be located between Washington Street and Geneva Avenue approximately three and one-half miles from South Station in the Dorchester area of the City of Boston. The station is below grade at the Washington Street end, and above grade at the Geneva Avenue end.

The station will consist of 800-foot long high-level platforms in order to facilitate direct platform-to-coach boarding. The platforms will include detectable warning strips, new canopies, passenger shelters, benches/windscreens, wayfinding signage, graphic panels, a train approach warning system, variable message signs, and high non-glare lighting. The station will also be equipped with closed circuit television (CCTV) video surveillance cameras, police emergency call box systems, and public telephones. There will also be off street drop-off/pick-up areas with minimal parking located adjacent to the Washington Street and Geneva Avenue entrances.

Accessible routes will be constructed from both Washington Street and Geneva to the inbound platforms of the station. Similarly, accessible routes will be constructed to the outbound platforms at both Washington Street and Geneva Avenue. The accessible routes will consist of sloped walkways and covered ramps with benches being installed approximately every 200 feet along these routes. The station will be constructed to accommodate accessibility for all passengers.

Existing sidewalks along Washington Street and Geneva Avenue will be reconstructed within the immediate vicinity of the station entrances and new wheelchair ramps will be constructed at the adjacent roadway intersections.

The construction work commenced in January 2010 and is expected to be completed by Spring, 2013.
