Orange Line Haymarket North Signal Replacement Project
The Orange Line Haymarket North Signal Replacement project awarded to the joint venture of J.F. White Contracting Co. and SYSTRA Consulting Inc. will replace the Authority's existing Orange Line signal system with a fully functional state-of-the-art signal system from Chinatown to Oak Grove. Included as part of this project is the installation of new Switch Machines, Train Stop devices, Track Circuits, Signal Rooms and cabling throughout the project limits. The installation of this new system will significantly improve system reliability and throughput while at the same time allowing for increased operational flexibility.
It is anticipated that this project will commence on March 28, 2004, the duration of which, is projected to take four (4) years to completely install and test.
The joint venture of J.F. White Contracting Co. and SYSTRA Consulting Inc. will be allowed to early access the right of way from 9:00pm to 5:00am, Sunday through Friday, for three (3) consecutive construction seasons as follows.
March 28, 2004 to November 15, 2004
March 1, 2005 to November 15, 2005
March 1, 2006 to November 15, 2006
Please note however, that the construction season start dates and periods depend upon Weather, Holidays, and Special or Unforeseen Events.
In addition to Early Access, the contractor will be granted several weekend diversions during the three (3) year construction season, all of which will be scheduled through the Subway Operations Department. Other than Early Access and Weekend Diversions, the contractor will be allowed to work normal non-revenue hours for the duration of the project.
