REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL NOTICE

To All Interested Parties:

A guiding principal of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (herein referred to as the MBTA or the Authority) is to continually attempt to improve the quality of its operations including the Authority's Paratransit program, THE RIDE, while providing accessible, safe, reliable, cost effective public transportation service to citizens of Massachusetts.

Following this principal, the MBTA is requesting proposals to provide Paratransit Service in sixty (60) Communities throughout the Greater Boston Area, for a period beginning July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2014, with associated Mobilization activities beginning on January 1, 2009 to ensure the successful implementation of services.

The purpose of this advertisement is to notify public and private providers of transportation services that the MBTA will earmark funds within its 2010 through 2014 fiscal year budgets for the provision of its ADA complementary Paratransit Service program (THE RIDE), and to request Proposals from interested parties to provide Paratransit Services 365 days a year, between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 1:00 A.M. (with some deviations/exceptions), in the following areas/ communities: The Authority reserves the right to modify any service area.

• North Service Area - comprised of the City of Boston and the communities of Beverly, Chelsea, Danvers, Everett, Lynn, Lynnfield, Malden, Marblehead, Melrose, Middleton, Nahant, Peabody, Reading, Revere, Salem, Saugus, Stoneham, Swampscott, Topsfield, Wakefield, Wenham and Winthrop.

• Northwest Service Area - comprised of the City of Boston and the communities of Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Brookline, Burlington, Cambridge, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Medford, Newton, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Weston, Wilmington, Winchester and Woburn. 

• South Service Area - comprised of the City of Boston and the communities of Braintree, Canton, Cohasset, Dedham, Dover, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Medfield, Milton, Needham, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Sharon, Walpole, Wellesley, Westwood and Weymouth. 

Firms may submit proposals for any of the service areas listed above, and may submit separate proposals on one area, two areas, or three areas.  Proposals for each area must be submitted separately and independently.  A firm may only be selected to provide service for a maximum of one of the three areas listed above. Direct service providers and joint venture participation will be considered.
