Patriots' Day / Boston Marathon – Monday, April 20, 2015

The MBTA will accommodate thousands of extra riders as they travel throughout Greater Boston for the 2015 Boston Marathon. The annual event is scheduled to take place on Patriots' Day, Monday, April 20, 2015. Customers are urged to take public transportation to and from the Marathon and are advised to check T-Alerts for the most up-to-date service information on the day of the race.

In preparation for Marathon Monday, the MBTA will enhance service to rush-hour levels before and after the race on April 20. Pre-marathon events are also scheduled the weekend before the race, which will result in adjustments to various bus routes in and around Copley Square. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured.

Customers should also note that all MBTA parking garages will be pay-on-entry and cash-only on April 20 in order to ensure all customers exit in a timely manner. Due to heavy parking demand, some MBTA parking garages and lots may fill more quickly than normal. Customers planning to park in an MBTA garage or lot should plan accordingly. Due to congestion, bikes (including folding bikes on Commuter Rail only) are not allowed on the Commuter Rail on Sunday, April 19, and on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day, April 20.
