Not only can you add value and monthly passes on to your reusable, rechargeable CharlieCard, but using a CharlieCard instead of a CharlieTicket also gives you a reduced fare! Good for use for over ten (10) years, your CharlieCard also helps us keep maintenance costs down and reduces our environmental impact.
CharlieCards are also distributed at The CharlieCard Store, located adjacent to the Red and Orange Lines at Downtown Crossing Station (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.). At The CharlieCard Store, you can:
- Load stored-value
- Purchase MBTA passes
- Transfer value from paper CharlieTickets to plastic CharlieCards
- Replace damaged CharlieTickets or CharlieCards
- Obtain a Senior Pass, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass
- For para-transit customers, add credit to RIDE accounts
