Exiting Procedure For Green Line Trains
There are two types of Green Line cars. Type 7 cars are high-floor vehicles that require a customer who uses wheeled mobility, or has limited mobility, to exit using a mobile lift or mini-high platform. Type 8 cars are newer, low-floor vehicles that have a built-in bridgeplate to help a customer using wheeled mobility, exit safely and quickly.
At least one low-floor vehicle should be part of every train set. For improved accessibility, customers with limited mobility or those who use wheeled mobility devices are encouraged to use the low-floor vehicles when traveling. This page will discuss the exiting procedures for both low-floor and high-floor trains.
Exiting Procedure for Low-Floor Green Line Trains
- When the doors of the train open, make your way to the doors located in the center of the train. This is where the built-in bridgeplate is located. Do not wheel off of the train until the built-in bridgeplate is deployed.
- The motorperson will meet you at the doors to deploy the built-in bridgeplate. Once the bridgeplate is deployed, wheel off of the train onto the platform using the built-in bridgeplate.

Exiting Procedure for High-Floor Green Line Trains
Customers who use a wheeled mobility device can exit a high-floor green line train through the use of a mini-high platform or a mobile lift.
Exiting High-Floor Green Line Trains Using the Mini-High Platform
- When the train arrives at your stop, the motorperson will let you know which doors to use to exit the train. Proceed to the appropriate doorway to exit. Do not attempt to exit until the bridgeplate is deployed.
- The motorperson will then deploy the bridgeplate so that you can exit the train.
- Once the bridgeplate is properly deployed, wheel off of the train onto the mini-high platform using the bridgeplate. If you need help exiting the train, let the motorperson know.
- Finally, wheel your way off of the mini-high platform using the ramp.
Exiting Green Line Trains using the Mobile Lift
- When the train arrives at your stop, proceed to the doors located near the center of the train.
- The motorperson will position the mobile lift in front of the train doors.
- The motorperson will then crank the handle on the mobile lift so that the lift's platform rises upward to meet the train floor.
- A bridgeplate will then be deployed by the motorperson to span the gap between the mobile lift and the platform. Do not attempt to board the mobile lift until the bridgeplate is properly deployed.
- Once the bridgeplate is properly deployed, wheel onto the mobile lift using the deployed bridgeplate. Make sure that you are facing away from the train.
- If you are using a wheeled mobility device, turn off your wheeled mobility device and/or place your brakes in the "locked" position.
- The motorperson will then crank the handle of the mobile lift so that the platform of the mobile lift lowers you to the station platform.
- When the platform of the mobile lift reaches the station platform, the motorperson will then deploy a small ramp connected to the mobile lift. Once the ramp is properly deployed, turn on your wheeled mobility device and/or unlock your brakes, and wheel off of the mobile lift using the deployed ramp.
