Framingham/Worcester Line Service Changes

By December 2020, almost every passenger rail system across the country (including ours) will have an added layer of safety—Positive Train Control (PTC). We're upgrading the signal system along the Framingham/Worcester Line this winter and spring.

Note: Shuttle schedules are subject to change, dependent on weather, city-wide events, and construction progress.

Shuttles Between Framingham and Back Bay

Commuter Rail service from Worcester to Framingham, then bus shuttles from Framingham to Wellesley Farms, then the shuttle runs express to Back Bay.

Weekends Through May 2020

There will be no weekend train service between Framingham and South Station. Shuttles replace trains on some portions of the line.

For travel between Worcester and Framingham, pay only the interzone fare.

bus Shuttles Between Framingham and Back Bay

Free shuttles will run between Framingham and Wellesley Farms. Shuttles will travel express between Wellesley Farms and Back Bay.

Shuttles are accessible to people with disabilities. Some bus shuttles may be provided by third-party contractors and will look different than MBTA buses. Some may provide accessibility via a lift in the back rather than a ramp in front.
