Charlie Service Center
As of August 20, 2024, the Charlie Service Center is temporarily unable to transfer value from tappable CharlieTickets. Transfers from CharlieCards and older CharlieTickets with a magnetic stripe are still available.
You can visit the Charlie Service Center to:
- Buy passes for any mode
- Replace a damaged or expired CharlieCard
- Request a Senior CharlieCard, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass
- Process a name change on a Senior CharlieCard, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass with a valid ID
- Add credit to a RIDE account
- Connect reduced fare benefits to a contactless payment method
Charlie Service Center Location
The Charlie Service Center is located at 296 Washington St, between Milk St and Water St. The center is near the State Street T Station and Downtown Crossing and is fully accessible. The entrance, waiting area, and service area are at ground level, and there is a ramp inside that provides access to the restrooms.

People with disabilities and Medicare cardholders are eligible for reduced MBTA fares with a Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard.

Blind Access CharlieCard

People who are legally blind, as well as an accompanying guide, ride all MBTA services for free with a Blind Access CharlieCard.
