The CharlieCard Store is conveniently located at Downtown Crossing Station in the underground concourse between the Red and Orange lines.

Services Available

  • Replace damaged or expired CharlieCards
  • Request a Senior CharlieCard, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass
  • Add credit to a RIDE account

Replace Expired CharlieCards

Standard Fare CharlieCards

You have 2 options: 

  • Visit the CharlieCard Store located in Downtown Crossing. An agent will transfer any remaining balance on an expired CharlieCard to a new card.
  • Mail your expired CharlieCard to:

    Boston, MA 02116

    You’ll receive your new CharlieCard in the mail in 7-10 business days.

Senior and TAP* CharlieCards

You have 3 options:

  • Call Customer Support at 617-222-3200.
  • Visit the CharlieCard store in Downtown Crossing. You’ll be given a temporary 30-day reduced fare CharlieTicket.
  • Mail your expired CharlieCard to:

    Boston, MA 02111

    You’ll receive your new CharlieCard in the mail in 7-10 business days.

*Please note: To receive a new TAP CharlieCard, you must be eligible. If your eligibility has expired, you will need to reapply for a Transportation Access Pass.

Corporate, Semester, and
Student CharlieCards

Contact your pass program
administrator to get a replacement
card.

Replace Damaged, Lost, or Stolen CharlieCards

Registered Standard Fare CharlieCards

Call 888-844-0355 to get a replacement card.

Non-registered Standard Fare CharlieCards

If your card is damaged or malfunctioning, visit the CharlieCard store. An agent will transfer any remaining balance to a new card.

The MBTA cannot replace lost or stolen CharlieCards that haven’t been registered online.

Senior and TAP CharlieCards

You have 2 options:

  • Visit the CharlieCard Store in Downtown Crossing.
  • Call Customer Support at 617-222-3200.

Corporate, Semester, and Student CharlieCards*

Contact your pass program administrator.

*Please note: You may not be able to get a replacement card through your program.

Consolidate CharlieCards

If you have more than 5 CharlieCards* and/or CharlieTickets* that you'd like to combine onto 1 card, fill out the CharlieCard/CharlieTicket Consolidation Request Form, enclose all your cards/tickets, and mail it to:
