The MBTA has announced that a public meeting regarding the North Quincy Garage Project will be held on Wednesday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Quincy High School Auditorium located at 316 Hancock Street. South Shore residents and daily commuter who use the MBTA’s Red Line subway service are invited to participate in a public review session hosted by the MBTA to discuss construction of a new parking facility on the site of the North Quincy Station parking lot.

Construction at the North Quincy Garage is part of a long-term lease signed by the MBTA for the property, which will be developed for mixed retail and residential use by Hancock Street Partners. Once construction is complete, the 852 parking spaces existing within the current parking lot area will be replaced with 852 dedicated garage spaces for MBTA commuters along with 700 spaces for retail and residential use.

Construction work associated with this project will begin the week of February 17, 2019, with pre-work activities beginning the week prior. No parking will be displaced until the week of February 17. During the construction period, commuters can utilize more than 600 MBTA parking spaces that will be available at North Quincy Station with additional MBTA parking spaces available at Wollaston Station until Wollaston reopens. Free shuttles continue to operate between North Quincy, Quincy Center, and Wollaston Stations until Wollaston Station reopens. During the construction period at North Quincy, North Quincy’s Red Line platform will be open at both entrances during service hours with regular access to bus routes unaffected.

The meeting site at North Quincy High School on February 6 is accessible to people with disabilities. MassDOT will also provide language assistance free of charge upon request, including sign language interpreters and interpreters for participants who don’t speak English; open or closed captioning for videos; assistive listening devices; and alternate material formats, such as audio tapes, Braille, and large print.
