Fairmount Line Weekday Service

Riders wait to board the Fairmont Line during the pilot period.

A pilot of additional Fairmount Line weekday trips began June 22, 2020, and was made permanent on May 10, 2022.

The Fairmount Line pilot aimed to create a positive impact on transit equity and improve riders’ access to opportunities.

Schedule

Service includes eight additional weekday trips between Readville and South Station, with CharlieCard use available at Zone 1A stations along the line. These additional trips run every 45 minutes, and the last outbound train leaves South Station at 11 PM.

Riders can use CharlieCards to pay at Fairmount Line Zone 1A stations.

All CharlieCards can be used at these stations, including those loaded with stored value, monthly and daily passes, and reduced fare passes. Riders can tap their CharlieCards at the platform validators to get a receipt to show on board.

Transfers

Fairmount Line Zone 1A riders who pay with a CharlieCard can transfer for free, within 2 hours of their first tap, to subway, bus, or Silver Line.

Note: If platform validators are not functioning correctly, riders will need to pay the conductor on board. Please keep your receipt to show to a Transit Ambassador or Bus Operator for a free transfer to bus or subway.
