Forest Hills Station Improvements
We’re making improvements at Forest Hills Station, a transportation hub for riders on the Orange Line, Needham Line, and 17 different bus routes.

Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Why We're Doing This Work
We're improving station accessibility and repairing aging infrastructure to lengthen the station's lifespan.
What to Expect During This Work
This project may cause minor disruptions, but we don't expect major service delays for riders at Forest Hills.
As the design progresses, we'll be reaching out to riders, neighbors, and local officials to share details about construction impacts.
Previous Project Completed in 2019
New entrance and expanded busway
In 2019, we made improvements to the Forest Hills busway and opened a new, fully accessible entrance. Riders can now access the station’s Orange Line platform from the other side of the Arborway.
Work was done alongside the Casey Arborway Project, which included several enhancements at Forest Hills:
- Expanded the upper busway
- Installed a large busway canopy
- Improved busway entrances and exits
- Created a new station entrance on other side of Casey Highway leading to the station platform
- Added a pedestrian and bicycle path along the Arborway, starting at Washington Street and passing the station
