About the Project

Timeline: 2017 – 2021
Status: Design

The consolidation of 4 B-Line stops along Commonwealth Avenue will begin in 2019. The project is being done in coordination with MassDOT’s Commonwealth Avenue Phase 2A project and the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge project.

Project Features

  • The consolidation of St. Paul and BU West stations
  • The consolidation of Babcock and Pleasant Street stations
  • Updated fare collection machines
  • Longer, 225-foot platforms for 3-car train sets
  • Accessible level boarding at both stations
  • Security and reliability upgrades to trains and stations


  • Faster, more reliable transportation along Commonwealth Avenue
  • 2 new accessible stations on the Green Line
  • Improved traffic and pedestrian safety in the Boston University neighborhood
