New Babcock Street and Amory Street Stations Open November 15

Updated on November 12, 2021

On November 15, 2021, we’re opening two new fully accessible stations at Babcock Street and Amory Street.

The consolidation of four B Branch stations into two decreases travel time by one minute in each direction, providing riders with a quicker and more reliable commute along Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.

What We Accomplished

As part of the Green Line Transformation (GLT), we consolidated Saint Paul Street and Boston University West stations into the new Amory Street station, and we consolidated Babcock Street and Pleasant Street stations into the new Babcock Street station.

The new station platform features include:

  • Safety barriers to separate riders on the platforms from traffic
  • 150-foot canopies to shelter riders from the elements
  • Raised 225-foot platforms for easier boarding
  • Countdown clocks, digital screens, and emergency call boxes
  • New benches and improved lighting

Construction started in March 2021 and was accelerated for seven weeks this year, allowing us to complete the project months ahead of schedule.
