Green Line Transformation | C Branch Track Upgrade
12-Day Full Access: Monday, July 11 – Friday, July 22
Day 5: July 15
This week, work began on C Branch train protection and track upgrades. Crews will install GLTPS wayside equipment and more than 1,500 feet of new track.
Ben: “My name is Ben Weinstein and I’m a project manager with Green Line Transformation. I’m here in the tunnel on the C Branch near St Mary’s station. As you can see, we have track work going on on both sides, working to upgrade the tracks between St Mary’s station and Kenmore station on the C Branch. We have full-depth track replacement going on both inbound and outbound. Currently, the inbound tracks are being flooded with ballast. These track improvements will lead to a safer, more reliable Green Line. In addition to track replacement, we’re installing wayside equipment for GLTPS – called speed balises. We’re installing these speed balises along the entire C Branch to regulate train speed and improve safety along the entire Green Line. Stay tuned for more exciting upgrades on the Green Line this summer and Fall.”
These important upgrades are on schedule to be completed next Friday, July 22. During construction, accessible shuttle buses are replacing Green Line service, and police details are on site to ensure safety. Stay tuned for more updates on the C Branch from the Capital Transformation team!
