Lynn Fells Parkway Bridge Move: October 22 – 25

We’re replacing the Lynn Fells Parkway Bridge, which carries the Haverhill Line of the Commuter Rail over the Lynn Fells Parkway in Melrose. On October 22, crews will begin safely removing the existing bridge and moving the new superstructure into place.
This project will bring the bridge to a State of Good Repair, improving safety, resiliency, and reliability of the Haverhill Line.
Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
What to Expect During This Work
Work will begin at 8 PM on Friday, October 22, and continue around the clock until 5 AM on Monday, October 25.
The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
Service Impacts
This work will require the suspension of Commuter Rail service on the Haverhill Line during the bridge replacement. Alternate bus transportation will be provided.

Neighborhood Impacts
Lynn Fells Parkway and Vinton Street will be detoured throughout the weekend. A signed detour route will be in place. We encourage drivers to avoid the area or seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
To accommodate this work, Lynn Fells Parkway will be closed to all vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic during work hours. A signed detour route will be in place.
