Schedule Change UpcomingThe new Fall/Winter Commuter Rail schedules go into effect on Monday, October 2nd with extended late-night service and added peak service on select lines. Visit MBTA.com for more information.The Fall/Winter schedule maintains the same frequent weekday service introduced in Spring 2021, with a few changes to train times in order to factor in track work and seasonal events.
-On the Newburyport/Rockport Line, additional weekend trains have been added for service to and from Salem station through October 29th as part of the Haunted Happenings events.
-The Bus diversion between Reading and North Station will continue through November 5th on the Haverhill Line but the diversion schedule will be adjusted as well (the adjusted diversion schedule will be available soon). The regular Fall/Winter schedule will go into effect on November 6th and is already available online.
-The ski train is back on the Fitchburg Line. Wachusett Mountain ski area operates a shuttle between the ski area and Wachusett station during Winter months to connect to these trains which feature a specifically modified coach equipped with racks for ski and snowboard equipment. The ski train will operate on weekends starting December 9th and on Wednesdays starting January 3rd.
-Regular Commuter Rail service to Foxboro, re-introduced as a pilot on September 12, 2022, will continue.
Holiday service:
On Thursday, November 23th, 2023 (Thanksgiving Day), Friday, November 24th, 2023 (day after Thanksgiving), Monday, December 25th, 2023 (Christmas Day), Monday, January 1st, 2024 (New Year’s Day), and Monday, February 19th, 2024 (President’s Day) all lines will operate on a weekend schedule.
On Monday, October 9th, 2023 (Columbus Day), Monday, January 15th, 2024 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), and Monday, April 15th, 2024 (Patriot’s Day), all lines will operate on a regular weekday schedule

Service Change OngoingLynn Station is closed in order to be rebuilt as part of the Lynn Commuter Rail Station Improvements Project. A free shuttle bus service is provided between Lynn and Swampscott until a temporary platform is built. MBTA.com/lynnshuttleDuring the station closure, riders may use Bus Routes 441/442 and 455 from Lynn to connect to Wonderland station for continued Blue Line subway service into Boston.
Although Swampscott is a Zone 3 station, Lynn riders who board at Swampscott may purchase Zone 2 tickets and passes.
