MBTA-performance

MBTA-performance provides data for transit performance based on passenger wait times, travel times between stations, headways at stations, service alerts, and more.

The MBTA-performance documentation describes the calls and usage.

Data is available in the API for the current day and previous three months. Historical data for many API calls are available as downloadable CSVs on the MBTA Open Data Portal under the performance and system data category.

Use of MBTA-performance requires an API key. This is a different key from the V3 API key. You can request a key or use the public key to get started.

The MBTA-performance API shares characteristics and resources with API-V2. API-V2 is deprecated, but the MBTA-performance API is not. It is expected that API key management will change in the future. Watch the MassDOT/MBTA Developers Google Group for details.
