Ferry fares depend on your origin and destination stops. One-way tickets range in price from $3.50-$18.50. Monthly passes are also available.
People 12 and older who do not qualify for reduced fares pay the standard fare. Children 11 and younger accompanied by a paying adult ride for free (up to 2 children per adult).

Note: Ferries to and from Boston may dock at either Rowes Wharf or Long Wharf. Please check the ferry schedule to plan your trip.
One-way ferry tickets are only valid on the ferry. No free or discounted transfers are available to other modes.
There are no discounts for purchasing a round-trip fare.

You can pay your ferry fare on board the boat, but we recommend buying a ticket or pass before you board. A crew member will check your ticket once you’re on board.
CharlieTickets are reusable paper passes that can be loaded with one-way tickets or monthly passes. Reduced fare CharlieTicket holders can also buy 10-ride tickets.
CharlieTicket holders with monthly ferry passes can transfer to some additional MBTA modes for free.
mTicket is an app that allows you to purchase one-way, 10-ride, or monthly passes from your smartphone.
mTicket monthly passes are $10 less than the CharlieTicket fare, but they are only valid for travel on the ferry.

One-way paper tickets for the ferry are issued by Boston Harbor Cruises, the MBTA's ferry operator, at ticket booths on the docks.
Paper tickets do not include transfers to other modes.
CharlieCards may be issued to customers who buy monthly ferry passes online or get their pass through their employer. It provides the same benefits as a pre-printed CharlieTicket.
CharlieCard holders with monthly ferry passes can transfer to some additional MBTA modes for free.

Fare Vending Machines
Monthly ferry passes are available for purchase at fare vending machines, which are located at all subway stations and the Lynn and Worcester/Union commuter rail stations.
Most machines accept cash and major credit/debit cards. Some machines only accept credit/debit cards and are clearly marked to indicate they don’t accept cash.
You can order monthly ferry passes online. Passes are delivered by mail.

A crew member will verify your fare either as you board or just after the boat departs.

You don’t have to validate your ticket when you reach your destination.
