Reduced Fare CharlieCard Mailing Delays
The MBTA continues to experience delays in mailing temporary and permanent reduced fare CharlieCards. These delays are a result of continued equipment malfunctions. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Open with Limited Hours
The CharlieCard Store currently has reduced hours due to limited workforce availability. Please note that visitors are required to wear face coverings in the CharlieCard Store.
MBTA riders can visit the CharlieCard Store to do the following:
- Request a Senior, TAP, or Blind CharlieCard
- Replace a lost, expired, or damaged card
- Make deposits to RIDE accounts

Schedule an Appointment
If you'd prefer, you can schedule your visit ahead of time. We have limited appointments available for Senior and TAP CharlieCard services.
You can schedule a time to visit the store if our walk-in times don't work for you. Here's how:
1. Select a service. You can:
- Apply for a new Senior CharlieCard or renew an existing one
- Apply for an automatically eligible TAP CharlieCard
- Apply for a new TAP CharlieCard or renew an existing TAP CharlieCard
2. Select a date and time. Appointments are available on Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:30 AM – 11:15 AM.
3. Enter your contact information. Please include any special requests you may have.
Apply for a Senior CharlieCard
Eligible riders can apply for a new, renewal, or replacement Senior CharlieCard online.

Additional Information
Visit the CharlieCard store if you need to:
- Buy passes for any modes (except Commuter Rail Zones 9 – 10)
- Replace a damaged or expired CharlieCard
- Request a Senior CharlieCard, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass
- Add credit to a RIDE account
