Youth Pass
The Youth Pass program will be retired and replaced by the new income-eligible reduced fares program on October 31, 2024.
If you’re a current Youth Pass rider, you should sign up for the income-eligible program instead of renewing your Youth Pass this year.
Learn more about income-eligible reduced fares
The Youth Pass Program offers reduced fares to young adults with low income. The program is a partnership between the T and participating cities and towns.
Youth Pass CharlieCards can be loaded with:
- Cash value for roughly 50% reduced one-way fares
- $10 7-Day LinkPasses
- $30 monthly LinkPasses
Your card can also be used to purchase reduced monthly passes for Commuter Rail, Ferry, and Express Bus.
How to Use Your Youth Pass
You can use your Youth Pass CharlieCard to purchase reduced fares and passes. Online applicants should receive their Youth Pass within five days of application approval. In-person applicants may receive their cards the same day they applied.
Youth Pass riders should always keep their Youth Pass CharlieCard with them when they ride the T to present as proof of program membership.

The Youth Pass program will be retired and replaced by the new income-eligible reduced fares program on October 31, 2024.
Replacing Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Youth Passes
If a fare gate or fare box says that your card is inactive, or doesn't permit entry, your card may be inactive, expired or damaged. For lost, broken, de-magnetized, or expired cards, you can get a replacement card.
You can request a replacement card online. You will receive your card in the mail within 5 days of your request being approved, and any stored value or passes will automatically be transferred to the new replacement card.
You can request a replacement card in-person at your city or town's Youth Pass location.
You will receive your new replacement card on the spot. To transfer stored value or passes onto your new card, you’ll need to visit the Charlie Service Center. You must have both your old and new card serial numbers with you.
Note: Value and passes can be transferred to replacement cards at the Charlie Service Center, but they are unable to issue new cards. Replacement cards must be issued online or from your city or town's Youth Pass location before visiting the store.
