Commuter Rail Service for Red Sox “Rolling Rally”

Posted on October 29, 2007

In celebration of the World Champion Red Sox, the City of Boston is sponsoring a “Rolling Rally” on Tuesday, October 30, 2007.  The parade is scheduled to start at approximately 12:00 Noon and continue through the City, ending near Charles Circle shortly after 3:00 PM.  MBTA Commuter Rail is making the following arrangements to accommodate rail passengers expected to join in this celebration.

Inbound Service:  All trains will run as scheduled with passengers encouraged to board trains into North Station at Anderson/Woburn Station on the Lowell Line and at Route 128 Station for trains into South Station as there are available parking spaces at these locations.  Inbound trains on the Providence Line and the Stoughton Line between 9:00 AM and 12:00 Noon will make a station stop at the Route 128 Station.  There will also be a train departing from Dedham Corp Station on the Franklin Line at 10:15 AM.  Passengers may experience service delays due to extended station stops to ensure all passengers are safely on board the train. Inbound passengers are encouraged to purchase round-trip tickets prior to boarding the train or when purchasing tickets on the train.

Outbound Service:  After the parade, outbound rail service will be available on all lines for fans to return home.  In anticipation of the large crowds at Back Bay Station, South Station, and North Station, passengers will be directed to designated waiting areas to await boarding instructions from railroad personnel and MBTA Transit Police officers.  Ticket Offices at Back Bay Station and North Station will close before 3:00 PM as passengers will be directed from assigned waiting areas to departing trains.  Sales personnel will be on hand to assist passengers. All afternoon outbound trains may stop at all stations enroute to their final destination.  Please listen for train announcements at Back Bay, South Station, and North Station.  Outbound trains on the Providence Line and the Stoughton Line between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM will make a station stop at the Route 128 Station.  There will also be a train departing from Back Bay Station at approximately 3:50 PM to Forge Park on the Franklin Line, making all station stops enroute. It is also anticipated that outbound passengers may experience significant delays in their evening commute due to the need for extended station stops.

All passengers are encouraged to assist those passengers new to commuter rail whenever possible and to celebrate this tremendous victory in a respectful manner.

Thank you.
