Wellington Yard and Maintenance Facility Updates
Wellington Yard, the facility where we store and care for Orange Line vehicles each day, will be updated for safer, more efficient maintenance. This project is part of the Orange Line Transformation Program.
Wellington Yard Rebuild

- Budget: $103 million
- Status: 99% complete
Wellington Maintenance Facility
- Contract awarded: 2017
- Projected completion: Summer 2023
- Budget: $83 million
- Status: 90% complete
Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Why We’re Doing This Work
The Wellington Yard and Maintenance Facility expansion and upgrades will make it easier for crews to move vehicles around the facility, decreasing the time needed for maintenance.
- All new tracks, power systems, and signals
- Expanded vehicle storage space (completed in fall 2020)
- More space for vehicle maintenance
- New diagnostic equipment
- An efficient, environmentally friendly vehicle washing station
- Improved service reliability
- Cleaner vehicles for an improved rider experience
