Winchester Station Closed for Demolition Work
Updated on March 1, 2021
On January 7, 2021, the MBTA closed Winchester Station as a result of an inspection that indicated significant deterioration of the pedestrian ramps, platforms, and canopies. Demolition work will be performed as needed to safely secure the station.
This demolition work will begin in February, and we expect to complete this work by June 2021.
We appreciate your patience during this safety-related closure of Winchester Station.
Building a Better T
As part of our $8 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Trains will no longer stop at Winchester Center Station. Riders should consider Wedgemere as an alternative.
Construction advisories will be distributed ahead of any significant work taking place. Neighbors can expect increased noise and periods of vibration from heavy equipment and machinery during the demolition work.
The MBTA Winchester Station Project team held a virtual public meeting on February 23, 2021.
We invite you to review documents and downloads related to the Winchester Station demolition work.
