Due to MassDOT's Tobin Bridge/Chelsea Curves Rehabilitation Project, the Route 1 northbound lane closure will be extended through Chelsea and a southbound lane on the Tobin Bridge will be closed effective May 13. We expect this work will cause significant delays to buses on these roads, including Routes 111, 426, and 428.
For the Route 111, alternate service options include:
For service to downtown Boston and connections to the Green and Orange Lines. Customers may show their CharlieCard to the conductor for travel between Chelsea and North Station, a 10-minute trip. Parking is not available at Chelsea Station.
Silver Line - SL3:
SL3 connects to the Blue Line (via Airport Station), Red Line (via South Station), and the Commuter Rail at Chelsea Station, along with other Silver Line routes. Monthly LinkPasses are valid for travel on the SL3 and subway. Inbound SL3 fares are being waived from Chelsea, Bellingham Square, Box District, and Eastern Ave during construction.
For Blue Line service, take bus Routes 114, 116, or 117 to Maverick or the SL3 to Airport Station. For Red Line, take the SL3 to South Station. For Orange Line, take the Routes 110 or 112 to Wellington. Monthly LinkPasses are valid for travel on the SL3 and subway. Monthly local bus passes are not accepted on SL3 or subway.
