Service Alerts For Red Line Close
  • Shuttle (Upcoming)
    Shuttle buses replace Red Line service between North Quincy and Braintree stations from about 9:00 PM until the end of service on Sundays - Thursdays from December 9 to January 17.
    These evening shuttles are scheduled to occur every Sunday through Thursday nights from December 9 to January 17. This is to allow for work at both Wollaston and Quincy Center stations.
    Regular train service will run December 23-27 and December 30 - January 3 for the holidays.
    All shuttle bus stops are accessible for persons with disabilities. Regularly scheduled service will resume at the start of service the following day.

  • Service Change
    Please board both Alewife and Braintree trains on the southbound platform at North Quincy from start of service until 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 15.
    Due to the Wollaston Station renovation, trains in both directions will share a single track between Quincy Center and North Quincy
    Red Line passengers are encouraged to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes of travel time.

  • Station Issue (Ongoing)
    The pedestrian walkway near Kendall/MIT Station (inbound) is closed until further notice due to MIT construction.
    Access to the Kendall/MIT Station will remain open and accessible on the Main Street side of the station throughout this construction.
    The pedestrian plaza between Carleton Street and Main Street in Kendall Square will be closed due to the construction of an underground garage.
    Customers are encouraged to utilize alternative paths to/from the station using the paths on Ames Street, Dock Street, or Wadsworth Street.

  • Station Issue (Ongoing)
    The pedestrian bridge at the Braintree Parking Garage will be closed through Summer 2020 due to construction.
    For access to Braintree Station during this closure, travel down to the first floor and use the pedestrian crosswalk to enter the station at the street level.
    This closure is due to the South Shore Parking Garages Improvements and Renovations Project. The pedestrian bridge will be replaced by a new garage lobby featuring elevators and stairwells.

    Access to the east entrance of North Station is available through a covered walkway. Legends Way is closed to pedestrian access.
    Customers are advised that the pedestrian route for customers transferring from the Green and Orange Line exits at Causeway and Beverly St into North Station Commuter Rail will be moved slightly to accommodate ongoing construction work.
    After crossing Causeway St, pedestrians will use a protected walkway along the east side of Legends Way, directly abutting Portal Park. The walkway will include a barrier and kick-plate for blind and low vision passengers.
    As an alternative, customers may consider utilizing the west exit from North Station Commuter Rail due to congestion.

    Shuttle buses will replace Green Line D Branch service between Kenmore and Reservoir this weekend December 15-16 due to track and signal work.
    Buses will replace train service between Kenmore and Reservoir from the start until the end of service on Saturday, December 15 - Sunday, December 16.     All shuttle bus stops are accessible to persons with disabilities. Please allow additional time for your commute.
    Please note, there will be NO shuttle bus service to Beaconsfield Station. Customers should use Reservoir (9 minute walk) or Dean Road on the C Branch (2 minute walk).

    Green Line D branch notice: We are experiencing an issue with GPS tracking on D branch trains in the Newton area.
    We are working with our vendor to solve GPS tracking on D branch trains in the Newton area. We have deactivated countdown clocks at some D branch stations so that we are not providing incorrect predictions.
