Service Alerts For Lowell Line CloseView
On weekends, July 7 - December 2018, Lowell Line service in both directions will be replaced with a free bus shuttle connecting passengers to Wellington Station on the Orange Line due to Positive Train Control (PTC) testing.
Inbound passengers will board a free bus shuttle that will make all stops on the Lowell Line except North Station. The bus will run to Wellington Station on the Orange Line for continued service into Boston. There will be no direct connection to North Station.
Passengers will need to pay the subway fare at Wellington Station.
Bus shuttles will depart Wellington at the time the train is regularly scheduled to depart North Station. Outbound passengers will need to allow additional travel time to Wellington Station to connect with the free bus shuttles.
Normal train service will operate on the weekend of the Lowell Folk Festival, July 28-29.
Station Issue (Ongoing)
Access to the east entrance of North Station is available through a covered walkway. Legends Way is closed to pedestrian access.
Customers are advised that the pedestrian route for customers transferring from the Green and Orange Line exits at Causeway and Beverly St into North Station Commuter Rail will be moved slightly to accommodate ongoing construction work.
After crossing Causeway St, pedestrians will use a protected walkway along the east side of Legends Way, directly abutting Portal Park. The walkway will include a barrier and kick-plate for blind and low vision passengers.
As an alternative, customers may consider utilizing the west exit from North Station Commuter Rail due to congestion.
